You just got married and have your beautiful wedding rings…

Of course, you want to wear these beautiful rings on your romantic honeymoon. This is a bad idea though. While you are traveling, you want to leave your valuables and any unnecessary items from your wallet or purse at home. Wallet snatchers do exist and travelers are an easy target.

To help protect yourself, wear a fake diamond ring. This way, if it is stolen, you have not lost your beautiful rings. Don’t take extra credit cards with you, leave them at home. Keep all your money and identification in a money belt or front pocket. Back pockets are too easily picked. Bags are also easy targets. Fanny packs are easily opened and contents removed. Crowded areas are particularly dangerous and thieves are very good.

Other than making sure you have a fake ring for your honeymoon, there are several other things you should prepare before leaving for your honeymoon.

If you will be leaving the country, then you need to make sure you have a current passport. If you don’t have a passport, you need to order it well in advance. It takes several weeks to be processed and sent to you. If you have a passport, you need to make sure it is current. It needs to have an expiration date of more than six months from when you leave for your honeymoon. You may get lucky and no one will notice; however, you don’t want to risk it on your honeymoon.

Depending on where you are going, you may need immunizations that are not standard. Some of these need to be taken well in advance of your trip. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has resources on what immunizations are needed for what part of the world. Also check your records to make sure your regular immunizations are up to date.

These aren’t the normal things you think about when preparing for a wonderful, romantic honeymoon. However, if you forget to prepare these items, then your trip could be ruined before it is even started.
